Oh man, it’s good to be back!
We got back in the earlier days of December 2013 from our two week honeymoon in the USA and I couldn’t be any more happier about finally getting back to work.
I wanted to tell you every single thing about the trip but it would be more than 5K words long (actually it would be a LOT more) so I’m going to tell you the highlights instead.
Hope that sounds cool with you!
The wedding went fantastic although on the “big day” I was nervous as hell. I couldn’t sleep the day before so you can see my tired eyes in every picture but I was really happy.
As the wedding started developing itself, I started feeling more and more confident about everything until I reached a point in which I was actually enjoying every second of it.
The party was great and we actually had some last minute plans to keep partying at some friend’s house.
Wife finally passed out really late and I told her girlfriends to draw some words and doodles on her face so (I took some pictures with her while she was sleeping lol) I obviously made some funny faces too LOL
I’m sorry that I can’t show these to you but the pictures were hilarious! (she was laughing with us the next day too so no biggie)
Since we got married on a Saturday, we wanted to rest on Sunday and leave fresh the next day but we couldn’t rest at all.
Instead we went on to visit my wife’s parents and my parents as well and to be honest I can’t remember much from that day.
I do remember getting back to our apartment on a taxi cab with lots of tequila and whiskey bottles though.
Sunday’s night finally came, my wife had everything good to go days in advance but of course I wasn’t ready.
I finished packing that very same night and forgot a few things like my flipcam charger, my phone charger and my DSLR charger but I did take an extra flipcam battery with me.
Anyway, we had to wake up really early in the morning (about 4:00am) and my brother in law drove us to the airport that Monday.
Bad Weather & Departing Time
We were supposed to fly first to Guadalajara and then to Las Vegas but there was a “minor incident”… a two hour delay!
The first thing that crossed our minds was “we’re not going to make it”.
We had to change planes in Guadalajara and only had like 30 minutes to do so.
I thought we were definitely going to be spending the first day of our honeymoon stranded somewhere in Guadalajara and lose the first night in Las Vegas but we actually didn’t.
Turned out it was the same plane so whatever happened we were going to land in Las Vegas on that same Monday.
And luckily, we did.
After arriving two hours late to Las Vegas, we finally reached our hotel room.
Last time we visited there, we stayed at the Aria Hotel which was a pretty awesome hotel but it is just too damn tiring to do all that walking from and to the hotel, particularly when we never rent a car when we go to Las Vegas.
This time we chose another hotel right on the strip, the New York, New York.
It’s not considered a top notch hotel but I actually wanted to go there for its location and the food court inside and I actually liked it a lot.
Note: If you are my friend on Facebook you can see the pictures from the proposal trip a year ago here:
You won’t be able to see anything if you’re not my friend on Facebook so just add me there if you’re interested in watching these.
We visited a few places we never visited before like the Adventuredome at the Circus Circus.
I actually don’t recommend going there, it feels like an abandoned place but if you have small kids, they may actually get a kick out of it.
Not everything sucked there though since we also played for the first time ever a game called Laser Tag.
I know it is basically for kids but man, a few other grown ups decided to play and we ended up playing like 10 vs 10 people.
Needless to say, my wife and I surely had some great laughs running around with those laser guns (I got killed like 20 times LOL)
We also visited a few bars, including Coyote Ugly inside the New York Hotel and as you can see here, my wife was already making some new friends.
As for shopping goes, we didn’t do much in Las Vegas this time but we definitely tried as many restaurants as we possibly could…
I’m still salivating over a few different meals we tried that were simply fantastic.
It’s a bummer that I can’t remember the name of the restaurants but if I do get them, I’ll put them in here.
We also played a LOT of Roulette.
I’ve never been a gambler myself (although I do like to bet from time to time on some sports) but last year I started liking to sit and bet a few bucks at the roulette.
It’s dead easy and you can either win or lose a lot of money really fast… Absolutely my type of game!
To not get into lots of details, when I was barely learning how to play last year, I started betting single dollars and quickly got up to $100, I decided to risk the entire $100 on a 3 to 1 bet (we’re still talking about the roulette) and I lost them.
Obviously I wasn’t going to leave the table like that now, was I?
So I did the same, started with some $5’s this time (I was pissed so I wanted to get to $100 fast) got to $100 in winnings again, decided to bet them all (again in a 3 to 1 bet) and au revoir, lost it all again! Whaaat?
Yeah guys, shit happens and if you get greedy, it’s really easy to blow up not only $200 but a LOT more than that.
This time though, we played really conservative and was happy to see I could easily retrieve several $40’s, $50’s and even a few near to $70’s each time we sat at the tables (but I didn’t get greedy this time… see? it works!)
We also checked out a show from Circus Du Soleil, this was Mystère (last time it was Love).
The shows was fantastic but in all honesty, I liked Love (based on the Beatles) a lot more.
Since I don’t have any pictures from that show (you are not allowed to take pics) please accept this Planet Hollywood Casino girls instead.
Another thing we checked out, was a rock band that does mostly covers right on the strip at Harrah’s.
They used to be called The Crashers but this time they had another name and another frontman.
The band didn’t suck (so much) but I can no longer recommend them, they turned into just another band now.
The only minor drawback while in Vegas was that I forgot to record videos but I did take a lot of pictures but they are in my facebook pics though!
We only stayed in Vegas for three days and flew to New York on Thursday.
As soon as we arrived in New York my jaw literally dropped.
It was like Mexico City (I lived there for almost two years) on steroids but also much cleaner and with some kind of organized chaos like some friend on Facebook mentioned.
To make a really long story short, we got off the plane, got our luggage, found a foreign cab driver (that we barely could understand) and off we went to Manhattan.
While driving, the driver wasn’t paying attention to anything, he was just enthusiastic to keep laughing his ass off over the radio, eating nuts and throwing garbage out the window.
It happened a lot sooner than what I expected…
We were waiting for the stop sign to change, the guy started dabbling with some stuff in the car’s drawer, then I suddenly see the car slowly starting to advance so I yelled “cuidado” (“watch out” in spanish) and the guy bumped the car in the front.
A black dude got off the car and what I thought was going to be a polite discussion turned immediately into a very heated discussion.
After something like 20 minutes it got solved with a $50 dollar bill and what I didn’t approve, was that this guy literally made us get off the taxi 1.5 blocks away from our hotel.
I got mad and instead of paying him a good tip, I only paid him what the meter said plus about $7, plus something like $4 ($1 per bag) and he went on a rampage that he got only about $4 as a tip.
I was about to drop an F-bomb on him and literally grab him by the neck but I remembered that I was on my honeymoon so I just told my wife to not pay attention to him and we had to drag all our stuff to the hotel in a very busy and crowded street.
After the taxi “incident”, we finally checked in and we started walking around the place to get familiar with it.
We were literally about less than half a block from Times Square so we did a LOT of walking.
Some of the places we checked out in New York were:
- Empire State Building
- Central Park
- Central Park Zoo
- Apple Store
- M&M’s Store
- Lots of restaurants including Bubba Gump
- Statue of Liberty
- National History Museum
- Strawberry Fields
- Times Square
We visited more places but you can get a very good idea of what we did (I hope!).
We also hoped on those red buses for two days, one of the rides included going to Brooklyn in the night, that was definitely very cool!
After five days in New York, we flew all the way to the West Coast and landed in San Diego, California.
Video From New York
Here’s a quick video I recorded from Times Square.
Not the fanciest video but I actually enjoyed recording it!
(Three years ago there’s NO WAY IN HELL I’d record myself in public)
After New York we flew all the way from the East Coast to the West Coast and landed in San Diego where we spent another five days.
We totally fell in love with San Diego and even talked a bit about maybe (just maybe) moving there in the near future, we will see!
Anyway, these are some of the places we visited:
- Petco Park
- Seaport Village
- Gaslamp Quarter
- San Diego Zoo
- USS Midway CV-41
We loved San Diego so much we are thinking of visiting there again in this next summer 2014.
Video From San Diego
I recorded this video on our last day in San Diego.
This video was recorded from the Bay just outside our hotel.
The weather was incredible and I wanted to go jogging so bad every single day but can you believe I never managed to find any running shorts?
You can see I didn’t talk much about San Diego but that’s because pictures and videos say a LOT more than words.
This is my honeymoon playlist in youtube for extra videos.
So this is how we spent the entire honeymoon in Las Vegas, New York and San Diego.
I didn’t take any computers with me because I wanted a break from Internet Marketing but then I found it pretty lame that I couldn’t upload my DSLR camera pictures.
I looked for a device to hook up an USB card to the iPad but then I thought it was going to be complex because the DSLR images are quite large so I didn’t buy anything.
The next time I’m definitely taking at least a small laptop!
Thanks for reading and stay put, there are some very cool things coming up shortly.
PS. I created a more personal blog at sergiofelix.me in case you are in the mood to check out something a bit different from me.
